Root canal therapy saves a tooth that decay, disease or injury would otherwise take.
Some people think pulling a tooth is simpler than a root canal. Keeping your own tooth is better whenever possible: it stops the other teeth from shifting into the gap and protects how you eat and speak.
The first sign is often serious tooth pain that does not let up. Others include increased sensitivity, a darkening tooth and problems in the gum around it. If you notice any of these, book an appointment so Dr. McFerran can find the cause, and if a root canal is recommended, schedule it soon so the problem does not get worse.
The inner soft tissue of the tooth, the pulp, is removed so the inside of the tooth and its roots can be cleaned. That removes the bacteria and clears the infection, and the tooth is sealed. A crown is often placed afterwards to protect it.

Went in for a route canal and crown..the experience was amazing. Staff was awesome and friendly..I didn't have one bit of pain during the process. Doc was very on top of things by taking X-ray after each step. Kept me informed.
I can’t say enough about this amazing group of people. Everyone is so friendly. I was apprehensive about my first root canal and they were great. I had no reason to worry and they put me at ease. I scheduled an appointment for my son as a new patient and two weeks before the appointment he broke his tooth in a basketball game. I called Monday morning and they squeezed him in that day! My son and I are so grateful. Thank you!
Usually a few days. Most discomfort fades within 24 to 48 hours. Soft foods and following your aftercare instructions help.
Brush twice a day, floss daily, keep up regular checkups and cleanings, limit sugary food and drink, and have cavities treated early.
Soft foods like yogurt, mashed potatoes, applesauce and smoothies. Avoid hot, hard or crunchy foods for a few days.
